Aug 22, 2025

Since taking office on January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump has prioritized an assertive β€œAmerica First” approach in both national security and economic policy. In March, he launched Operation Rough Rider, a major military campaign against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, with over 800 air and naval strikes aimed at ensuring safe passage in the crucial Red Sea shipping route. This aggressive response severely limited rebel capabilities and underscored America’s resolve on the world stage. At home, the administration has focused on expanding and strengthening the U.S. military, which has achieved record-high recruitment numbers across all branches. Meanwhile, the economic agenda has prompted large-scale domestic investments from companies like Bristol Myers Squibb and Gilead Sciences, bolstering manufacturing and the broader economy. The administration has also secured the release of American hostages and pushed for peaceful conflict resolution, maintaining a strong, unified stance that has drawn public endorsements from key cabinet officials.

After years of inactivity, Rancho Bernardo Community Park’s old lawn bowling green has been revitalized into two new multipurpose fields, officially opened with a ribbon-cutting on July 15.

Local children from Friday Night Lights flag football were among the first to use fields 9 and 10, a moment celebrated by Robin Kaufman, head of the RB Community Recreation Group.

This $250,000 transformation—made possible by an anonymous resident’s donation to the San Diego Parks Foundation—turns a once-unused 35,000-square-foot site into a hub for sports, picnics, and community events.

City funding had been planned, but was redirected to flood recovery, highlighting the impact of community support.

The new fields, complete with benches and water fountains, address Rancho Bernardo’s park space deficit, offering expanded opportunities for the area’s 1,400 youth athletes and their families.
